Croatia is a young country, a country of recent creation, it has Slavic origins, whose history until the 20th century had strong ties to the ex ,Yugoslavia). Nonetheless it would be a false statement to say that this Croatian town doesn't have a history, because it has written it. Throughout various ins and outs, the Croatians have settles in it's actual location. This happened around the 7th century. Two centuries later in the 9th century they had turned into some of the most potent towns in the area. Later it came to form part in a certain way as the Austrohungarian Empire, which later changed after the first world war and the sinking of the Empire.
Almost in our times, in 1868 to be concise, Croatia became nationally autonomous, but remained under the Hungarian Authority. Afterwards, it united with the serbs and the slovenians and in 1929 is turned into Yugoslavia. This situation lasted until the Second World War, when ,Yugoslavia) was invaded and Croatia was forced to take part of the force with it's troops. After the loosing battle, Yugoslavia reunited again under the control of Tito.
The situation was stable until 1991, the year in which Croatia declared it's independece from Serbia which was not very well looked upon. In regions like Krajina or Slovenia the refuse to segregate itself from Yugoslavia to become independent from Croatia. After 4 years of war the Serbian forces abandoned Krajina in 1995. In 1998 Croatia had it's country, recognized by the European Union, soliciting the entrance to the European Union 2 years later in the year 2003, the entrance that is still being studied and is awaiting answer just as Turkey is, to become part of the EU before the year 2010. |
